Yael Aflalo

Yael Aflalo, Founder of Reformation, a California native and innovative entrepreneur who is leading the revolution of sustainable fashion through Reformation. Yael began her career as a designer before going on to launch her first clothing line, Ya-Ya, in 1999. During her time at Ya-Ya, Yael took notice to the wasteful norms of the fashion industry–overprinting look books just to toss 80 percent of them and wasting yards of leftover fabric, just to name a few. Yael also spent time working first-hand with factories overseas and took note of the destructive impact that production abroad has on the environment. It was then that Yael realized it was time to break the cycle and set out to create a brand where sustainable fashion didn’t mean compromising style. Yael is dedicated to transforming current harmful retail practices by leading a sustainable revolution in the fashion industry and is paving the path for how the fashion industry defines green.

Created in 2009, Reformation is a revolutionary lifestyle brand that proves fast fashion, sustainability and local manufacturing can co-exist. Based in Los Angeles, Reformation makes effortlessly cool silhouettes that celebrate the feminine figure for the confident and the chic. Home to the first sustainable sewing factory in the U.S., Reformation infuses green measures into every aspect of the brand. From recycled and eco fabrics to a heat reflecting roof and clean energy in the factory, to recycled hangers in stores and eco-friendly packaging for at-home shipments, Reformation offers thoughtfully produced clothing at an affordable price–a reminder that being green shouldn't mean sacrificing style and quality. In the past year, Reformation has launched their own tools such as the RefScale to measure the environmental savings of each garment we produce and every customer can track their own environmental savings with every Reformation purchase.
